8mm socket, 8mm Allen bolt (straight allen key), small torque. You will need 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 14mm spanners and sockets. You should only attempt to do this if you are fairly confident with spanners and have a decent set. (remember where all the plastic connectors reattach). You will need to loosen or remove the wiring from around the top of the engine to allow you to remove the starter once loose. You will be able get to two of the starter bolts from under the bonnet and the other from below. ![]() The starter is located at the front middle of the engine under the diesel filter. YOu will need to take off a number things from the top of the engine. ![]() The hard bit is getting to the starter to unscrew the bolts and getting enough room to remove it once loose.
